One final Dump...

So, I finally put together a composite of aaalll the U.I. work I
did for Age of Empires. Well, not all of it, but the icons at least.

Icon work can be the most annoying thing when you're in the
thick of it, but it's seen more in game than anything else a
concept artist will do, and there tends to be a ton of it!
So, once it's done you can dust off your hands, look back, and smile.
Hope you enjoy!

Traveler's lake

I've recently been contracted to do some work for NCI!
They want work to hang at their new building, so
I'm dusting off my environment art skills and seeing what
I can send their way. Here's a sneak peak.

Late Night Sketching

I felt the need to do some exploration on style, and my primary
aim was to incorporate some of my sketching style into my painted work.
Some elements were more successful than others, but I think it's safe to say
this won't be the last of these types of tests. Hope you enjoy!

Spider Queen

The Spider Queen with her Goblet of peasant blood...
This was something I had started as an in class demo for the Art Institute
of Seattle, and I liked it well enough to take it where it would eventually end up.
I started this out by having the class shout out things they wanted to see me paint.
They were very insistent that it contained tentacles.
Hope you like!

Military vehicle thumbnails

After losing a bunch of work, I decided to take
a step back and do some really quick sketches. It was a
lot of fun! I don't usually work this way when left to my
own devices. Definitely a good exercise.

Future Coms

Had a lot of fun with this guy, and learned so much! Persistence is the
greatest tool for learning, I think. Hope you enjoy!

Design work: Military Vehicles

Decided it was time to get back into more practical
design work. It was nice not to have to pull design from thin air,
as these were made with a heavy nod to modern vehicles, and imagining where
they might go next.

City Scape

This was an assignment for ART301 that I decided to work on a
bit more during winter break. I could definitely see myself doing
polished illustration full time, as I had a lot of fun getting in close
and defining areas within a vast space. Over all I would say this
took about 20 hours.

A.I.: Sunken City

This is what resulted from the 3 hours I spent at the Art Institute
last Saturday afternoon. The theme was "underwater".

Something Sinister!

Here's a piece I've been working through for a couple days.
I never get to spend this much time on one thing, so this was an
interesting challenge! I'm thinking I'll come back to it later,
but right now I need a break!

Here's a link to the full sized process work:

More character work from GPG

Some characters I did while at work this past year. I so want to
be on this project again!

Just fun.

More Doodles! Some of this was done at Gas Powered Games,
while some of it was done just for fun on the side.

Doodles

Now that I have my own site, I'm gonna start posting more fun stuff here!
Oh, and if you want to see my more "portfolio worthy" work, check it:

Quick environments, just for fun! These probably took about 2.5 - 3 hours a piece.

Characters Inspired by Runic Games

For those of you that know me, it's no secret that I've been inspired by the work that comes out of Runic Games. The games are fun...
